Kamondo Apartmanı
About the project
Kamondo Apartmanı is a four-storey apartment building commissioned by the Kamondo family on Serdar-ı Ekrem Caddesi in Beyoğlu, on the same axis as Galata Tower. According to a Pera Palace publication, the building is one of Istanbul's examples of the Neo-Classical style and was restored with its original architectural features and strengthened against earthquakes. It was home to poets and writers such as Sait Faik, Orhan Veli, Oktay Rifat, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and Melih Cevdet Anday. The ground floor had shops; according to a 2008 report, the apartments were sold as homes after the restoration.
